Questionnaire Investigate Strategies by municipalities in Greece, Italy, Slovenia, France and Spain. -Quantitative data in relation to waste production for year 2008 -Prevention or sustainable management of municipal waste
8
Evaluation Criteria The percentage of each waste stream in the total amount of municipal waste produced (by weight) Degree of difficulty for organizing and running each action for the sustainable management waste Cost of burdening the local authorities for the development of any form of infrastructure of sustainable management waste Highest score 100 Doesn‘t mean that no waste are produced!
9
Scores & Evaluation ZWI Score Characterisation of performance Comments < 30 Negative performance Non compliance with several or some of the fundamental obligations of the local authority, according to the relevant European Directives 30 – 50 Marginally positive performance Mere compliance with the fundamental obligations of the local authority, according to the relevant European legislation 51 – 75Positive performance Performance, actions and initiatives, which exceed the local authority’s current obligations, according to the relevant European legislation
10
ZWI Score Characterisation of performance Comments 76 – 90 Highly positive performance Exemplary performance, actions and initiatives which considerably exceed the local authority’s current obligations, according to the relevant European legislation 91 – 100 Exceptionally positive performance Model performance, actions and initiatives in the area of prevention and sustainable management of waste. Can be used as a model by other local authorities for the development or improvement of their current waste management policy.
