Customs Department background information Structure –Division of the Ministry of Finance – PS - COC –One major sea ports (two smaller ones) –8 sections – staff complement of 130

Customs Modernisation Program Implementation of ASYCUDA World –One – Stop- Shop operation – interfaces with other agencies Introduction of modern customs management tools –Risk Management –Post Audit Development of detailed Customer Service Program –Launch of The Department’s Service Charter

Challenges Challenges On Customs side Took on too much at once strained human resources / Technical capabilities Lack of commitment by agencies to follow through on responsibilities Resistance to change – not recognizing the potential of the system Agencies side Concerns about the timely accounting for the monies collected on their behalf Full capability of the system is not being used Resources (GDBS-onsite transactions)
