History The local offices began working at the 90’s Variety of services: consulting, training, projects etc. 25 offices operated by different NGO’s-> Independent organizations Since 2010 the offices have been directed by the SMBA Differences in level of service due to a lack of cooperation Reform is currently taking place- LDC’s will be the executive branch of SMBA

Advisors 845 approved advisors in SMBA’s database 2013: eighteen advisors were recruited in the field of Efficiency energy use and three advisors in the field of industrial design

‘The road to a business’ This program was initiated by JDC Israel and is targeted towards vulnerable groups (defined together with SMBA) as people from the following communities: Ultra- Orthodox Jews, Israeli Arabs, Disabled and immigrants from Ethiopia. Aim: providing a “box of tools” which will allow participants to evaluate their business idea into becoming a reality - opening a business. At the end of the workshop participants join ‘initiating a business’ program LDC involved: Western Galilee, Raanana, Beer Sheva, North Galilee and Nazareth Participation: 6 groups opened in 2013 83 entrepreneurs finished the first stage. 50 entrepreneurs started the second stage (‘initiating a business’ program) 17 entrepreneurs have opened a business (after the second stage). *Part of the entrepreneurs have not yet finished the second stage.

Special Projects Ethiopians- Case managers Two case managers were designated and started to operate in 2013 via LDC in Natanya and Hadera. Budget in 2013: 50,000 NIS Main tasks: Keeping regular contact with community stakeholders. Initial consulting to Ethiopians immigrants, New immigrants and entrepreneurs.

A Business Center is a place which enables Micro-enterprises to operate and manage their activities receiving training and assistance - all under one roof, while enjoying a subsidized rent. Aim: To improve business performance until business which participate can “stand on their own feet”. Budget (2011-2014): total budget of 6 Million NIS. Currently : 6 BC’s (Shfar'am, Maalot, Yarca, Nazareth, Rosh-Pina and Beer-Sheva) Business Centers (BC) Special Projects

‘Businesses from a far’ program Aim: Increasing business productivity in the periphery by assisting in developing infrastructure and providing marketing tools which will generate increase in sales by marketing from ‘a far'. LDC involved: Western Galilee, Beer-Sheva and Nazareth. Budget: 3.42 Million NIS (Approx. 1.14 for each LCD). Participation: 136 Businesses are participating in the program. Special Projects

Efficient energy use: Action: Conducting Energy efficiency surveys to businesses. Purpose: Assistance to implement energy efficiency by performing energy surveys. 31 surveys were conducted in 2013: 5-10 employees: 6 surveys completed 10-50 employees: 6 surveys completed 50-100 employees: 19 surveys completed 18 certified consultants in the database.
