The Liturgical Year
2
The calendar can be separated into four seasons that have special days set aside for celebrating. These celebrations are special times for remembering what is important in our lives. These events help us connect with people and recall significant memories. Purpose of the liturgical calendar
3
Celebrations help us remember what’s important and what we believe in. Ex: Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc.

Celebrations also have an important place in our spiritual life. They bring us a renewed sense of who we are as God’s people.
5
Through the liturgical calendar Christians express their faith in Christ.
6
Each Sunday, we follow a tradition which began with the apostles who celebrated the first day of the week, the “Lord’s Day,” because is was the day of Jesus’ resurrection.. We celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus which is called the paschal mystery.
7
Each season of the liturgical year celebrates an important aspect of Christ’s life and also commemorates saints and some important events in Mary’s life.
