Impacts school property taxes for 2011-2012 school year $70 million increase across the state Additional State Aid Homeowners Rebate will be calculated at 40% QTR or Primary Rate – whichever is less Current system - $5.00 rate reduced by 40% ◦ $2.00 reduction - $3.00 effective rate New System - $5.00 rate QTR reduced by 40% ◦ $2.95 x $.40 = $1.18 reduction ◦ $5.00 - $1.18 = $3.82 effective rate ($0.82 or 27% increase)

Move on when reading Applies to 3 rd graders in 2013-2014 (K students in 2010-2011) Competency requirements in reading to be promoted from 3 rd grade Task force to develop recommendations

Allows school districts and charters to offer a Grand Canyon Diploma (GCD) in 2012-2013 Students may pursue GCD Students that qualify would have multiple pathways available to them and still qualify for state funding GCD may be awarded at end of Grade 10 or after or during Grade 11 and Grade 12
