WHAT IS VITILIGO? This disease causes loss of skin color in blotches. When melanin-forming cells (melanocytes) die or stop producing melanin is called vitiligo. It can affect any part of the skin on your body.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES? According to mayoclinic.org doctors don't know why the cells fail or die. It may be related to: A disorder in which your immune system attacks and destroys the melanocytes in the skin. Family history (heredity). A trigger event, such as sunburn, stress or exposure to industrial chemicals.

SYMPTOMS Patches of the skin become lighter or white. Whitening or graying of the Hair on your scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows or beard. (before age 35) Lose of tissue that line the inside of your mouth and nose.

PREVENTIONS There are no preventions

TREATMENT/CURES Creams the control inflammation. Some form of vitamin D Medication That affect the immune system like ointments containing tacrolimus or pimecrolimus. Light Therapy. Laser Therapy. Skin Graphing.
