10 7 th grade Goals Language Arts: I can identify and explain the elements of fiction. I can determine the theme of a text. I can use textual evidence to support an idea. Using reading strategies, I will read a good-fit book to improve my comprehension I will read a good fit book independently, to improve my comprehension I can routinely write for a range of disciplines for a period of time. ELL: I can identify key words and phrases and main ideas in spoken presentations and written texts. I can read, decide what is important, and communicate answers to questions or solutions to problems. I can write a summary of a short written text Foods & Sewing: I can choose the correct materials to create my sewn project. I can use my sewing skills to create a sewn project. I will use food safety and sanitation principles to make my food product. I can use the correct preparation techniques to complete my recipes. I will apply basic concepts of nutrition when choose what to eat. Woods: I can classify types of wood based on a trees characteristics. I can create an Orthographic drawing using drafting tools. I can safely use stationary power tools in the wood shop. Art: I will be able to create 1 pt. perspective design compositions using parallel line, vanishing point, pattern and shading.

11 7 th grade Goals Social Studies: Jones I can cite and explain textual evidence to support a claim. I can use social studies vocabulary correctly in writing and class discussion. Wright I can accurately explain how our constitution attempts to balance individual rights and the common good. I can accurately explain government’s role in the economy. I can accurately explain how humans interact with the environment. I can accurately explain the difference between primary and secondary sources. Pre Algebra: I can successfully add and subtract positive and negative numbers Algebra: I can interpret key features of graphs and tables in terms of the quantities, and sketch graphs showing key features given a verbal description of the relationship. I can find an appropriate domain that relates to a function and its graph.

12 7 th grade Goals Science I can apply the Scientific Method to a laboratory investigation. I can identify and differentiate between plant cells and animal cells. I can identify and describe the functions of plant and animal organelles. I can describe the relationship between cell structure and function. I can identify and describe single-celled organisms. Health Fitness: I will be in the HFZ in 4 out of the 5 fitness testing areas by the end of the year.

13 8 th grade Goals Intro to Algebra: I can simplify small and large numbers into scientific notation. Algebra: I can interpret key features of graphs and tables in terms of the quantities, and sketch graphs showing key features given a verbal description of the relationship. I can find an appropriate domain that relates to a function and its graph. Geometry: I can write the converse, inverse, and contrapositive of a valid proposition and determine their validity. I can know, prove, and apply theorems about parallel and perpendicular lines. I can know, prove, and apply the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse. Language Arts: I can explain the elements of literature with evidence from a story. I can use evidence from text to support my claims. ELL: I can identify key words and phrases and main ideas in spoken presentations and written texts. I can read, decide what is important, and communicate answers to questions or solutions to problems. I can write a summary of a short written text Social Studies I can identify and explain the 5 Themes of Geography in an ancient civilization. I can create a works cited page that uses the correct format for internet and text sources.

14 8 th grade Goals Art: I will be able to use line, shape, space and value (elements) balance, contrast, and movement (principles) to create design compositions. Woods: I can design and manufacture a tool that will pull out and push in a hot oven rack. I can create an Orthographic drawing using drafting tools.
