Most people know us as AWP The Trust’s vision is to enable and empower people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives Our values inspire us in achieving our vision –Listening –Challenging stigma and promoting equality –Being accountable to our communities –Harnessing the enthusiasm and skills of our staff We embrace partnerships with organisations that share our vision. 4 enabling and empowering people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives What we do Provide mental health and social care support for –Older people –Adults of working age –Children and adolescents –Those with issues relating to drug and alcohol misuse –People with learning disabilities We also provide secure services and work with the police and prison service throughout the south west

5 enabling and empowering people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives What we do Operate across 2,200 square miles Manage 15 in-patient facilities, 90 community bases Provide treatment & care in people’s own homes wherever possible Employ some 4,000 staff Manage a budget of approximately £200m Help people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives Fight mental health stigma

6 enabling and empowering people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives What we do in North Somerset Provide mental health services to: –Adults of working age and older people Contacts in 2008/09 with 52,391 service users in the community 391 in-patient admissions in 2008/09 –Specialised and Secure Services –Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services –Specialist Drug & Alcohol Services Drug & Alcohol Criminal Justice Delivery 326 AWP staff are based in North Somerset

7 enabling and empowering people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives The mental health services we provide Adults of working age –Primary care services –Early intervention, psychosis –Community teams –Crisis services –Assertive outreach services –Psychological therapies –In-patient services, including rehabilitation Older people –Community teams –Day services –Intensive Support Team –Inreach Team –Liaison services –In-patient services Delivered from community sites across Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, in-patient beds in Weston-super-Mare

8 enabling and empowering people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives The mental health services we provide..2 Specialised and Secure Services –Secure forensic services, including medium secure in-patient beds –High dependency rehabilitation services (low secure beds) –Services to the criminal justice system –Learning disability in-patient services –Rehabilitation services –Services dealing with eating disorders, personality disorders and mothers and babies –Psychiatric intensive care services Delivered primarily from Fromeside, Bristol; through the criminal justice system across the South West; in various in-patient sites

9 enabling and empowering people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives The mental health services we provide..3 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) –Staff seconded into Weston CAMHS service, namely dance, drama, art and psychology services Specialist Drug and Alcohol Services –Specialised drug and alcohol opiate replacement prescribing –Community detoxification/harm reduction/health promotion –Psychosocial interventions –Dual diagnosis - partner agencies; shared-care GP services, community care assessment –In-patient detoxification at Long Fox Unit Services delivered from 47 The Boulevard Weston-super-Mare

10 enabling and empowering people to reach their potential and live fulfilling lives The mental health services we provide..4 Drug & Alcohol - Criminal Justice delivery –Operating in HM prisons throughout the South West including Bristol, Dartmoor, Dorchester, Eastwood Park, Erlestoke, Gloucester, Guys Marsh, Leyhill, Portland, Shepton Mallet –Provide various treatments including: CARAT (Counselling, Assessment, Referral, Advice and Throughcare) services Rehabilitation services Integrated drug treatment services –Criminal Justice intervention teams
