Technical Background Knowledge of computer & data network B.S. in non-IT field & M.S. in IT & M.S. in Telecom 3+ years in LAN administration and 2+ years in Programming TWNIC experience New member, Joined on June.4 2001 Had received basic hostmaster training from IP Dept. Manager The role of TWNIC in global and domestic Internet societies Knowledge of TWNIC policies and procedures on managing resource requests

Objectives 1.To gain knowledge on efficient IP resource management In charge of IP resource requests from TWNIC members Helping the Internet society to conserve and aggregate IP addresses 2. To be familiar with APNIC allocation policies and procedures Minimizing the difference between TWNIC and APNIC on request evaluation Shortening future request iteration

Week 1-2.5 HM Introduction – by all hostmasters APNIC website Membership procedure, questionnaire HM tools (Unix and Windows) HM Demonstrations Very helpful to settling into the HM work Self-reading APNIC policies (APNIC-076 … ) RFCs (2050, 1930, 1918) HM training guide

Week 1-2.5 (Cont.) Individual training - by Training Manager Internet Registry Policy Requests (ISP, Second Opinion, AS) APNIC Database In-addr.arpa Delegation Ipv6 Overview Advance ISP Address request Very effective for building fundamental HM knowledge base Excellent quality

Week 2.5-5 Hands-on and consultation - by Senior IRAs Started from second-opinion, ASN, then ISP requests. Feedbacks obtained from experienced IRAs Very useful as I got different valuable inputs and opinions which broadened my knowledge Had no opportunity to deal with NIR request <- Time constraint Assistance from Hms from time to time - by all hostmasters Instant solution to my questions and problem on member requests

Workload Week 2.5-3: Slightly too light simple 2 nd opinion and AS requests Week 4: A little heavy more and harder requests to deal with Week 5: No much work finishing up ongoing requests Probably can be more balanced <- Time constraint

Suggestions Training materials Could be provided earlier Longer training period Better longer than 5 weeks Consistency of Documentations New form and old form More stable network Due to server upgrade
