3 Harrie Lalieu ©euroCRIS, Secretariat euroCRIS Moscow - Introduction to euroCRIS Why are CRIS needed? for researchers: easy access to relevant information and associated software, processor power, storage systems and - where necessary - detectors to collect more data to overcome incomplete or inconsistent information for research managers and administrators: easy measurement and analysis of research activity and easy access to comparative information; evaluation and assessment for research councils: optimisation of the funding process for entrepreneurs and technology transfer organisations: easy retrieval of novel ideas and technology in a knowledge-assisted environment and easy identification of competitors and previously done similar research for the media and public: easy access to information, software and computer power to allow easily assimilated presentation of research results in appropriate contexts

To bring all CRIS communities at the same level (equal playing field), advertise CERIF-CRIS, increase active membership, general education Content? Thematic workshop, presentation of CRIS developments (Jostein Hauge session), business meeting (including reports from Board and Task Groups), CERIF tutorial (optional), TG meetings (optional) Output? Presentations, reports and minutes of meetings, as well as papers given in the workshop (proceedings of the workshop may be issued)

Strategic partners, European Commission, euroCRIS Board, invited speakers, euroCRIS members (as available places permit) Aims? In depth discussion of topics which are of overriding importance for the further development of CRIS, bringing up to strategic level, increase impact of euroCRIS on (EC) policy Content? Strategic topics are approached from various viewpoints, subdivided into several sessions with authoritative speakers Output? Presentations and final report with conclusions and recommendations for the way forward (publicly available; to be sent to strategic partners and European Commission)

All people active in the field of CRIS research and development (i.e. not just euroCRIS members and partners) Aims? Covering current topics, setting scientific standards for CRIS related R&D Content? Sessions with keynote speakers, contributed papers and a workshop, if appropriate; poster presentations (exhibitions on the part of participating and funding organisations are also possible) Output? Abstracts and full papers; printed proceedings; minutes of connected meetings
