2 Confucianism Confucius (551–479 BCE) was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher Confucianism is a belief system based on those ideas Focused on ideas of: Use right relationships to produce social order Respect family & older generations Act in morally correct ways Educate individuals & society

3 Confucius His ideas affected aspects of Chinese government
Education helped to produce an efficient, well trained government officials Influenced Society with 5 basic relationships Rulers should be virtuous and kind Around 200 A.D. Confucius began to lose its influence as the Han Dynasty died off

4 Buddhism Religion started in India
Teachings based on teachings of Buddha Suffering is part of life The reason people suffer is that they are too attached to material possessions By living in a wise, moral, and thoughtful way people can learn to escape suffering

5 Daoism A belief system that seeks harmony with nature and with inner feelings
