2 SC B2 Overhead Lines Subject Area Design, construction and operation of overhead lines including the mechanical and electrical (in cooperation with SC C3 & SC C4) design of line components (conductors, ground wires, insulators, accessories, structures and their foundations). Validation tests, studies of in service performance, assessment of the state of line components and elements. Maintenance, refurbishment, upgrading, and uprating of overhead lines.

3 SC B2 Overhead Lines Membership 24 Regular Country Members (including Canada) 12 Observer Country Members Canadians On SC B2 32 Canadians in various groups (total number of technical experts from all countries: 200+) 4 new Canadian experts added last year Canada is represented on all but one Working Group Mr. Normand Bell (Hydro-Quebec) – SC B2 Secretary 3 Canadians as Convenors of Working Groups

4 SC B2 Overhead Lines Structure - General New structure introduced in 2008: Convenor and Secretary 7 New Advisory Groups: 4 Technical 3 Supporting: Strategic, Customer, Publications & Tutorials Disbanded most of the existing Working Groups (upon completion of work) Created 22 new Working Groups with narrow focus Eliminated existing Task Force groups
