This is what I see, after 2 ½ years leading this organization Case: - philanthropy is growing worldwide and the need for networks to connect people and ideas, to create and share knowledge, and to facilitate collaboration and action is growing with it - people need to connect with others around mutual interests, to find information, to share knowledge and experiences, to accelerate their own learning WINGS is the only global network of support organizations serving philanthropy and we can be a reliable shortcut to make connecting, learning, and acting easier We are well placed to Giving greater voice to smaller member org. beyond their national borders Help Members coordinate their work to help the sector learn more quickly about what works well. This learning should be broadly, rapidly, and effectively shared. Our differential – we are well placed because We help support organizations to overcome isolation by feeling connected: we bring people and organizations together – EXAMPLE: China Foundation Center We offer opportunity for flow of information and knowledge from national to global and back again, generating and testing ideas and practices broadly among members - EXAMPLE: GIFE’s consultation on Accountability We are conduit for transmission of information to broad, diverse global community. By participating in the network people develop similar language, values, and orientation - ultimate result is the development of the philanthropic sector Broad understanding of the infrastructure for philanthropy like no other organization – from a rich perspective of diversity Be detached – not personal
