Copyright is what gives the author of an original work rights such as deciding who is able to copy it, who can add to it, who can use it, etc. Fair Use allows the public to use portions of a copyrighted material to critique the work. In order for a person to be granted fair use, the original work has to be copyrighted.

6. Text – It is okay to use the work in a way the author intended the purpose for. Music/Video – If you use these pieces for projects or assignments, and where the piece is taken from is shown, then it is okay. If you copy a full CD or DVD, you must require a license in order to do this. Web Page- Anything that is put on the web is open to the public and the author knows it will be used for other purposes.

Stealing someone’s work and lying about it afterwards.” ("What is plagiarism?," 2012) You can avoid Plagiarism by referencing someone’s work when using word – for – word or paraphrasing, or telling information in your own words Teachers can use technology to help prevent plagiarism by using the program turnitin.com. This program allows students to turn their work in and an online database will check to find the percentage of work already written.

8. Some factors you have to be aware of when working on the internet are identify theft, reputation management, passwords, cyber bullying, and cyber stalking. Identify theft occurs when someone uses your personal information (name, address, banking information, etc.) they find on an online website. You have to be careful the site you post this on is a protected site. Reputation management ensures that you don’t let the internet lead you into visiting sites you don’t want to.

9. Passwords on the internet always need to be private and not easy to hack. A lot of hackers on the internet are able to hack passwords including initials, birthdays, phone numbers, etc. Cyber bullying occurs when you or someone else posts comments, images, or videos about someone or something. The bully never lets the person know who they are and feels protected because they are doing it online. “Cyber stalking is harassment on the internet” ("Internet safety: Get" ). This occurs mostly to women/girls and can be from someone you know or a complete stranger. If any of these safety hazards occur to you, always report them.

10. Viruses – “A computer program that can replicate itself and spread from one computer to the other” ("Computer virus," 2012). Phishing – “The act of attempting to acquire personal information by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication” ("Phishing," 2012 ). Trojan Horse – “A program that appears harmless but hides malicious functions” ("Computer virus," 2012). Worms – “Can exploit security vulnerabilities to spread itself automatically to other computers through networks” ("Computer virus," 2012).
