What is Trichinosis? Infection caused by roundworms
Contracted through food sources (esp. raw Pork) Usually contracted from: Pork, bear meat, beavers, opossums, rats, walruses, whales, horses, and lions

Symptoms Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle pain, abdominal discomfort, facial swelling around eyes, and fever. Followed by diseases like neurotrichinellos, myocarditis, and dyspnea Occurs if larvae enter brain Contracted through raw or undercooked meat .

Treatment Symptoms show between 5-45 days and usually show between days. If they do: Treat w/ mebendazole or albendazole Pain killers can help w/ muscle soreness No for sure cure, but if it goes untreated Trichinosis may cause: Encephalitis, heart failure, heart rhythm problems because of inflammation, pneumonia, or death.

Prevention Prevent by cooking meat properly and using proper sanitation methods

The other stuff… Common infection worldwide Rarely occurs in the U.S.
Cond infect intestines, lungs, and brain. Primary sources that humans contract Trichinosis from: Pork and Bear Meat.
