1 New Hope for Neuropathy
You Have Suffered Long Enough! Presented by Joe Glennon, D.C. Pacific Grove Laser Center & Chiropractic 1107 Forest Ave. (across from Trader Joe’s)

2 Neuropathy Neuropathy is a medical term referring to disorders of the nerves of the peripheral nervous system (specifically excluding encephalopathy and myelopathy, which pertain to the central nervous system.) It is defined as deranged function and structure of peripheral motor, sensory, and autonomic neurons, involving either the entire neuron or selected levels. According to some sources, a disorder of the cranial nerves can be considered a neuropathy.

3 Peripheral neuropathy
Peripheral neuropathy is the term for damage to nerves of the peripheral nervous system, which may be caused either by diseases of the nerve or from the side-effects of systemic illness. Peripheral neuropathies vary in their presentation and origin, and may affect the nerve or the neuromuscular junction.

4 Diabetic neuropathies
Diabetic neuropathies are neuropathic disorders that are associated with diabetes mellitus. These conditions are thought to result from diabetic microvascular injury involving small blood vessels that supply nerves (vasa nervorum). Relatively common conditions which may be associated with diabetic neuropathy include third nerve palsy; mononeuropathy; mononeuropathy multiplex; diabetic amyotrophy; a painful polyneuropathy; autonomic neuropathy; and thoracoabdominal neuropathy.

5 Autonomic Neuropathy Autonomic neuropathy (also called visceral neuropathy) is a disease of the non-voluntary, non-sensory nervous system (i.e. the autonomic nervous system) affecting mostly the internal organs such as the bladder muscles, the cardiovascular system, the digestive tract, and the genital organs. These nerves are not under a person's conscious control and function automatically. They do not run through the spinal cord.

6 Which Approaches to Treatment Relieve Pain?
Drug therapy?- No pain killers and anti-depressants mask pain Therapeutic Laser?- YES!

7 The Prospect of Using Laser Therapy Means…
There is a way to build new capillaries and nerve endings There is a non-invasive safe treatment for neuropathy with no negative side effects You can even add strength and flexibility to the areas treated You can be pain free again!

8 Here’s What The Laser Looks Like
The Avicenna laser is the strongest approved by the FDA. It is the safest type of diverging beam with continuous feed light. Its beam of light is completely harmless and simply feels warm to the touch.

9 How Does the Laser Work? THE BIG PICTURE
Within the body the photochemical process nourishes the cells Damaged cells are nourished by the beam of light from the laser The laser allows cell to naturally replace themselves with lasting, permanent new fully functional cells

10 How Does the Laser Work? THE DETAILS
Photons are captured by mitochondria, or “battery packs” of cells There are about 200 mitochondria in each cell They are immediately transformed by the infrared photons of the laser in to ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy currents of the body With that new energy the damaged cells are able to produce collagen, elastin, and proteins at the same rate as healthy cells and essentially repair themselves Peripheral neuropathy-cellular

11 Photobiomodulation in Target Tissues
Thermal Bio-chemical Bio-electric Bio-energetic  nerve conduction  ATP production & releases nitric oxide  Electromotive action acting on membrane bound ion channels  Acupuncture meridian points stimulation  Capillary dilatation  fibroblast migration  Intracellular extra-cellular ion gradient changes  macrophage activity  keratinocyte activity  RNA/DNA synthesis  Enzyme production  SOD production

13 Advanced Training in Neuropathy
I have taken advanced training in laser therapy and additional trainings specific to neuropathy I use proprietary protocols to treat neuropathy so as not to cause a flair up or irritation to sensitive areas It is not just applying the laser that improves your condition, it is HOW I apply the laser

14 Neuropathy is Difficult to Manage
Neuropathy is probably THE most difficult case to manage Which is why you are all here looking for answers today If we follow the proper protocols and create an optimum environment for healing, the results can be life changing!

15 The Bottom Line Laser therapy can build new nerve endings and new capillary beds THAT is how the results are achieved Patient Testimonial: Joan C. Age: 74 Diagnosis: Neuropathy - Extreme pain (feet); Source: Letter to Avicenna CEO/Founder Dear Dr. Coren: I spoke to you by phone some months ago when Dr. Dorfman used your laser in the healing of my neuropathy. It has been a miracle. Thank you for this laser. It has changed my life from a semi-invalid to a 74-year-old who is exercising and on the go 10 hours a day. God Bless You, Joan C. Boca Raton, Florida

16 Some Questions You Might Have…
Is laser therapy painful? No 2. Are there negative side effects I should be aware of? 3. How soon will I see a decrease of symptoms? Immediately after your first treatment 4. Will I need recovery time? No, there is no down time

17 Worst Case Scenario Not everyone will get 100% relief
The worst case scenario is that you will see a 70-80% improvement in symptoms Each one of you has a unique case and will have unique path to healing But, sometimes the worst symptoms get the best relief

18 Lasers are NOT All Created Equal
If you are thinking, “I’ll just shop around for the cheapest laser…” Beware! Not all practitioners have the same treatment protocols-my advanced training in protocols are specific to healing neuropathy Just applying a laser to a neuropathically impaired area can cause a serious flare up Our Class IV healing laser is the most powerful approved by the FDA It is the safest diverging beam and continuous feed laser with the greatest healing effect known

19 Can Laser Therapy Help Me?
Everyone’s case is different To build a treatment plan specific to your case, we will: 1. take a full medical history 2. do a complete examination 3. select the protocols that apply to your unique condition Phylicia, my assistant, can take your information and set up an appointment.
