2 International Telecommunication Union Committed to connecting the world Facts about e-waste worldwide  Last year nearly 50m tonnes of e-waste was generated worldwide – or about 7kg for every person on the planet;  Only 8% of old cell phones are recycled properly;  Only 12.5% of e-waste is recycled;  Recycling one million laptops saves enough energy to power 3,600 homes.
