2 Collocations A collocation (also collocate) is a word or phrase which is frequently used with another word or phrase, in a way that sounds correct to speakers of the language.

3 Examples of Collocations
Heavy Rain Cold War To pay a visit Strong tea Crocodile tears To take after Deliver a speech Deliver a baby Deliver news

4 Idioms An expression whose meaning is different from the meaning of the individual words. For examples, to have your feet on the ground is an idiom meaning to be sensible.

5 Idioms When pigs fly. The cat’s out of the bag.
It’s raining cats and dogs. Strike while the iron is hot. A piece of cake. A slap on the wrist. Actions speak louder than words. It cost an arm and a leg. Add fuel to the fire.

6 Phrasal verbs A combination of words that is used like a verb and consists of a verb and an adverb or preposition. For example, give in or come up with
