1  Teaching the structure of language: A sequence of words in a grammatical unit  Syntax: linguistic term identifying the study of the rules for the formation of grammatical sentences in a language  Grammar is taught so that students will understand how speakers of English construct sentences.  Learning grammar starts from basics to complex.  Grammar is important for:  Writing, Reading, and Speaking with ease  Present, explain and practice structures

2 Present the structure  In a dialogue, reading, in a grammar listening activity, or by example so that students can see how it is used Explain the structure  Form: How the structure is constructed  Function: How to use the form Practice the structure Controlled practice  Text and workbook activities Moderately controlled practice:  Students practice using the forms in self made sentences in semi-controlled situations (grammar game) Free Practice:  Students freely practice points of grammar in various situations
