F IND Y OUR Y ES ! E NERGY W EEK 2 – “D O, B E, H AVE ” AND THE POWER OF EFFICIENCY
2
OPEN YOUR BOOK How do you capture extreme optimism and energy? That’s the discovery I made over the past few years of going through my own trials and tribulations: how to generate endless, exciting, life- engaging, positive Yes! Energy that flows from you to others and from them back to you again. It’s a life force that’s vital, dramatic, and thrilling. And you have it. You have access to it right now. Once you know how to use it, you’ll never stop. You will know how to access it always. -Chapter One of Yes! Energy
3
HOW ARE YOU PERFORMING? Review of Week 1 homework, comments and questions. How you act in this course is often comparable to how you will act in real world situations. – Are you fully engaged? – Are you doing ALL of the assignments and not negotiating? – Are you answering each question with 100% honesty, even if the answers are unpleasant?
4
HOW ARE YOU PERFORMING? Where you are today is the result of PAST behavior, not current or future behavior. Today’s results are from yesterday’s actions. – Have you started cleaning up negative conversations? – Which gifts did you discover? – Who is on your team? – What conflicts will you resolve?
5
“B E, D O, H AVE …” In traditional coaching, training or mindset models, the focus is on the “internal” first. Results in “analysis paralysis.” Many people never end up taking the desired action. Perfectionism is a saboteur of results.
6
MOVING TO “DO, BE, HAVE” By nature, all of us are looking for proof or evidence of our success. Action creates the ability to come face to face with fear, personality conflicts or anxiety. Without DOING you will often compromise on what you should BE. Proof is positivity and results are the ultimate motivator.
7
T HE S PEED OF A TTITUDE Great coaches, teachers, preachers, politicians... they all have great energy. In fact, you could put someone out in the world with great, high energy and a bad idea and pit him against someone with an amazing idea and low energy, and see who empowers the crowd toward action… I see it in my community over and over. A woman sits on the edge of her seat, leaning toward her audience confidently and calmly, and assuredly connects with those around her. Another sits with arms folded, head down, eyes passive, and can’t connect with a single person. It’s more than body language. It’s an ability to push through stasis and inertia to elevate wavelengths, move mountains. -Chapter Two of Yes! Energy
8
C ONTAGIOUS E NERGY Yes! Energy is contagious optimism. It isn’t ego work, compromise or tolerating. – How are those around you supporting your energy? – Be sure you are not TAKING energy from others or feeling “powerful.” – Claim your space. – Understand your spiritual “source.”
9
RE-DEFINING EXHAUSTION Exhaustion is focusing on yesterday’s resolution rather than today’s energy. – Where does your “gremlin” like to show itself? – How can your connection to source overcome that negative energy? – Which energy is more productive?
10
THE CAREGIVER’S DILEMMA Decisions should be made in respect to your gifts and the source of your energy and effectiveness. – If you are the “Rainmaker,” you must keep making rain. – Most high-level thinkers or CEO minds use team to avoid turmoil. – Statistics reveal that many caregivers pass away before the person they are supporting.
11
A S PIRITUAL S OLUTION Everything that you see in the universe is nothing but an expression of an infinite power. This power is flowing into you. Everything is spirit and spirit energy. The strongest energy will always win and that energy is sourced by spirit.
12
S OURCING E NERGY Prayer (meditation, gratitude space, or your preferred term) is not about asking, it’s about sourcing for solutions. – Clean up lingering elements. – Avoid “asking,” instead use the time to discover. – Understand the rationale for previous decisions.
13
THE QUALITY OF INTENTION Energy and results can be broken down to: Honoring your unique gifts. Certainty and confidence in your dreams and beliefs. Team and support. Refusing to tolerate or negotiate on your dreams.
14
W EEK 2 H OMEWORK List the advantages of the “Do, Be, Have” model. What can you start doing now? Identify your gifts: – What problems do you solve? – How do you show that gift? – How can you make it part of every day? Walk through the scenario on Pages 30-37 of the book.
15
Identify your best behaviors by placing yourself in a similar situation to the text. Be sure to focus on the following: How can I use my skills most effectively? Who am I modeling? Who could I be modeling? What type of energy currently surrounds me? Who else is trying to grow or change in my life? What is the quality of their intention? Where do they currently shrink or sabotage? All of these are critical to the process in the coming weeks.
