Adaptive Mapping 2

Adaptivity What is adaptivity? “A system is called adaptive if it is able to change its own characteristics automatically according to the user’s needs” Therefore we are not restricted to only one specific task. Since the user is always on the move the context changes every now and then 3
4
Maps Maps have the ability to provide large amount of information to a user in a single glance. two important aspects matter about maps: o The purpose of use o the user 4
5
Context-awareness refers to a general class of mobile systems that can sense their physical environment, i.e., their context of use, and adapt their behavior accordingly. location is a primary capability location-aware does not necessarily capture things of interest that are mobile or changing. Context-aware in contrast is used more generally to include nearby people, devices, lighting, noise level, network availability, and even the social situation 5
6
Objective Of adaptive mapping The objective is to shift the focus from LBS to Context Based Services where the service is tailored to the current usage situation 6
7
Variables Involved context includes at least location, time, and user context has static and dynamic components; context has a spatial and a temporal range. It also includes place, time, identity, and activity 7
8
Use Adaptive maps is not just getting us from point A to B but it actually does some of these tasks as well, they are: Searching Locating Identifying Checking Navigating 8
9
An Example It is early evening and Susan and Martin are going by car from their flat in direction of the City. Martin checks with his PDA which Bars offer the most attractive Happy Hour prices and picks the Indian Bar. By one click he gets the phone number of the Bar, by another click he is automatically connected to make a reservation for a table for six people. Next he is interested in whether their friends are already on their way and how much time is left for searching a parking space. A glimpse on the map is enough to see that their friends are not much further either. To be able to guide Susan, Martin asks for the nearest multi storey with free spaces. Martin does not know all one-way roads and cul-de-sacs in the City. To be safe, he requests the shortest route including current traffic information. After Susan has parked the car, the route guide quickly leads them to the Indian Bar and a tasty drink. 9
10
Context analysis searching for a bar locating the found bars identifying the selected bar locating the friends checking for available parking opportunities navigating to the multi storey navigating to the bar 10

Technical overview From machine learning point of view From data mining point of view Issues: 11
12
Two Comments Make full use of data mining to predict the user's interest, in case that the overflowing information will confuse the user. Multiple options, for your interest or choose others 12

Market Forecast Positioning and Location Based Services (LBS) has a huge market potential. According to Juniper Research which published a report for this kind of services, it estimates that these services will bring a revenue of more than $12.7 billion by 2014 The adaptive mapping solution we are offering, will greatly increase the market penetration of Indagon and therefore bring in more revenue 13
14
Potential Markets & Use Cases Real time traffic information Real time bus, tram, train location information Database where all gas stations would register their price of the day International markets targeting the Persian Gulf, South America and Africa Adaptive mapping solution for governments in these countries in the military field and major world events, like the Olympics and FIFA world cup in Brazil, in 2016 and 2014 Making use of the Smartphone interface to push the solution through a wide range of customers 14

Adaptive Mapping market potentials for Global Tourism To cooperate with mobile operators that they provide this service in that country on visitors handset screens. Designing a dedicated hardware and software that visitors can buy or rent from tourism associations and use the service while they are in that country. 17

Marketing & Advertising The need for good marketing strategy and aggressive advertisements. Advertising their product and services on the backbone of major industry players in the telecoms industry The Finnish market first and foremost will be an ideal market for Indagon @Fokus service, because if the solution is successful at home, then there is a potential for it at the world stage. 20
21
Manuals Writing a good manual for end users and special manuals for partners that is understandable and illustrative will go a long way in marketing this solution and other services offered by Indagon To get good results, manuals should be written in plain language, which is clear to everyone, concise and not ambiguous in style For international users English is popular language to use in writing the manuals and tailoring these manuals in the local languages where they have a niche market like in the Persian Gulf should be in Arabic 21
22
CONCLUSION Market analysis for some target markets in Finland like providing entertainment information in Finland as well as providing information in tourism industry with the use of adaptive mapping The need for Indagon to put more effort in advertising We can see that Indagon has a very good prospect of increasing their company’s revenue by adopting this solution of adaptive mapping that we are offering 22
