Green Hotels Currently, Marriott has nearly 85 hotels across all brands in 5 countries that are LEED-certified or registered by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and a standard for U.S. Green Building Council Marriott is expanding its green hotel portfolio 10-fold over the next five years with the recent introduction of a green hotel prototype for the Courtyard brand that will be pre-certified LEED. Saves an average of $100,000 in development costs and 6 months in design time, and up to 25% energy and water savings for its owners – a competitive advantage for Marriott. Four other brands will have LEED prototypes within two years. Marriott headquarters was awarded LEED Existing Building Gold Status in April 2010 Expand LEED-certified hotels across all Marriott brands Marriott headquarters earned LEED-Gold for existing buildings
