3. Flooding in Bangladesh: Bangladesh – PLC facts: Is one of the world's most densely populated countries! it also has a population of 125m inhabitants. Is one of the poorest countries in the world with a GNP of $200 per head. Has three of the world's most powerful rivers passing through its country - The Ganges, the Meghna & the Brahmaputra. In 2007 flooding made 9 million people homeless. Bangladesh is prone to flooding due to heavy monsoon rains, increasing urban areas, deforestation and lots of low-lying land. The South Asian country Bangladesh located next to India is prone to flooding due to being situated on the Ganges Delta and the many tributaries flowing into the Bay of Bengal. 4. Flooding in Australia-January 2011 A new year has brought another major flooding incident as a result of unexpectedly heavy rainfall. Earlier in the month the coastal town of Rockhampton was in the news when the town was almost cut off by floodwaters and residents were threatened by venomous snakes. The emergency services sector, as well as the insurance industry recommends that homeowners and organisations implement annual risk management strategies which include disaster planning and preparation.

5. River’s long profile- River Tees case study The river tees is located in the north-east england.Its source area is high in pennines in the west and the river flows eastwards into the north sea. The river tees is flashy meaning that water levels can rise very quickly following a rain storm, storing water in the reservoir helps to reduce flooding in the lower course. 6. Holderness Coast-Features The Holderness Coast is located on the east coast of England. It extends 61km from Flamborough in the north to Spurn Point in the south. There are also caves, stacks and arches along the coastline The Holderness Coast is one of Europe's fastest eroding coastlines. The average annual rate of erosion is around 2 metres per year.
