What makes this game my favourite is: Since its launch 10 years ago, I have loved this game. I’ve been playing since release and it never gets boring. I love making up my own character and watching them get better as I quest my way through the lands of Tyria. The fantasy setting is fantastic and there’s so much to do that I can still play it today and find things I’ve never noticed before. Since upgrading my PC, I have started playing Guild Wars 2, which is just like an even bigger and much cooler version of the original. Except that now I can play as a Norn! (They’re like giant Vikings!)

My favourite part is: Collecting materials to make new armour then customising it when I’ve got everything I need. I love going “material farming” to find those last few steel ingots or leather squares, or trading with local merchants for plant fibres or monstrous fangs. The best thing, though, is once I have the new armour, as then I can customise it to suit my character. I often dye my armour purple or red, depending on the character. Runes or insignias are then added to upgrade my armour, such a “Radiant Insignia” to add +15 on to my health bar, or a “Major Rune of Shadow Arts” to increase the power of my spells. Now in Guild Wars 2, I am working towards being a master craftsman in leatherworking and armoury.

My favourite part is: In Guild Wars 2, I also love the “Living World” challenges where new events and stories crop up depending on the time of year. For example, the Christmas period brought Winter’s Day festivals to Tyria and Halloween brought the Mad King’s Labyrinth. I love these things and can quite often totally ignore the main plot just to run off and try out all the new seasonal stuff.
6
The hardest part is: Attempting to play Co-operative Missions on my own. Sometimes, I just don’t have the necessary skills to pass certain missions and some extra help would be great. However, as the game is now so old (and with the launch of Guild Wars 2), very few people play so I have to battle alone. The “Guild Wars: Factions” mission, “Tahnnakai Temple” took me nearly 2 weeks to complete as it was so difficult. I am so glad that it’s easier to team up with other in co-op missions in Guild Wars 2 although sometimes it can get a little too busy!
7
My Favourite Character is: My character Mischa Midnight, who is 9 years old. She is a level 20 Necromancer/Ranger, the highest level you can reach in the game. With her necromancy skills, she can control the dead, animating fierce beasts from the bodies of fallen enemies. My weapon of choice is a bow and arrow, which – combined with my ranger skills – are deadly. And, as I have a high level of “Beast Mastery” points, I have a pet wolf that follows me around and helps destroy my enemies. I love this character because I have put so much time and effort into developing her, although we occasionally fall out and I resort to my Assassin character (Robin Trauma), who is also just as lethal. Mischa has been with me since I discovered Guild Wars and I wouldn’t delete her for all the gold in Tyria.
