6 HIGH SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS High School Course Selection  January-March – High School counselors come to Benton to schedule students  All students are scheduled for their base school; if they are accepted into a specialty program, they will be rescheduled  Benton teachers will make class & level recommendations beginning in January

7 Graduation Requirements STANDARD DIPLOMA: Standard units of credit required: 22 Verified units of credit required: 6* Courses Needed: ADVANCED STUDIES DIPLOMA: Standard units of credit required: 26 Verified units of credit required: 9* Courses Needed: English: 4 units Mathematics: 3 unitsMathematics: 4 units Laboratory science: 3 unitsLaboratory science: 4 units History or social science: 3 unitsHistory or social science: 4 units HPE: 2 units Fine Arts or Foreign Language, Career & Technical Education: 2 units Foreign Language: 3 units of one language or two years each of two languages Economics & Personal Finance: 1 unitFine arts or Career & Technical Education: 1 unit Economics & Personal Finance: 1 unit Electives: 4Electives: 3 units

8 Important Vocabulary Verified Unit of Credit: Must pass the SOL in the class as well as passing the class in order to receive credit. Pre-AP: Pre-college level course. Important to note that these classes have rigid prerequisites requiring teacher recommendations.
