Non-For-Profit Marketing
2
Non-For Profit Marketing Like we have talked about – everything is a business Certain businesses are not concerned with making profits – but still need “sales” to survive Non-profit Organizations – an organization that does not seek profit as its primary motive, but instead raises funds for a specific goal
3
Non-For Profit Organizations
4
Non-For-Profit Marketing Operate for the good of the community Fun themselves from donations and government money These organizations do not seek profit – any surplus funds are used to improve their services or organization – No extra money is given to members or employees
5
Non-For-Profit Organizations These organizations have all the same costs that other businesses have – Wages – Taxes – Utilities – Advertising – Legal Fees – Etc. The NFP organizations seek funds in order to keep themselves a float and continue helping their cause
6
Non-For-Profit Marketing We would like to believe that we are all good people... Generally, we need a nudge to donate to these very worthwhile causes Just like the marketing of goods – NFPs need to communicate the benefit of contributing to their cause
7
Non-For-Profit Marketing Common practices for NFP’s – Pamphlets and Written literature – Social Media presence (Facebook groups) – Advertisements (Print, TV, Radio, etc) – Sponsorship of Events/Teams AIDS walk, Hoops-for-Heart, etc. – Free publicity with local media Articles in the paper describing your cause – Face-to-Face Donations Door-to-Door, Salvation Army Santa, etc. – Donations for a small gift Pens, Pins, Bags, etc.
