2 2 WHAT IS TRIAD? TRIAD began as a community policing initiative between seniors and law enforcement to increase safety through education and community programs TRIAD is now a cooperative partnership between seniors, law enforcement, public safety, and human service agencies to improve delivery of services to senior citizens.

4 4 GOALS OF TRIAD GOALS: –To reduce criminal activity which targets older Americans. –To alleviate senior’s fears of victimization –Improve the quality of life. –To enhance delivery of law enforcement public safety and human services to older persons.

6 6 Role of the S.A.L.T. Council EMPOWER: Give seniors leadership on the S.A.L.T. Council to determine its direction EDUCATE: Gather information on safety issues and sponsor workshops and other programs REACH OUT: Reduce fear and increase peace of mind for seniors by contact with agency personnel FORGE LINKS: Discuss the safety related needs and concerns of seniors, identify problem areas and implement community- wide solutions

17 17 911 Disability Indicators The following are approved designations for inclusion in the 9-1-1 Database: Any changes should be communicated to your 9-1-1 Municipal Coordinator promptly. “LSS” Life Support System: someone at the address is linked to equipment required to sustain their life. “M I” Mobility Impaired: someone at the address is bedridden, uses a wheelchair or has another mobility impairment. “B” Blind: someone at the address is legally blind. “D H H” Deaf and Hard of Hearing: someone at the address is deaf or hard of hearing. “T T Y” Teletypewriter: communication via the telephone with someone at that address may be by TTY. “S I” Speech Impaired: someone at the address is speech impaired. “CI” Cognitive Impairment: someone at the address has some degree of cognitive disability, such as a developmental disability, Alzheimer’s disease or other form of dementia. 911 Disability Indicators911 Disability Indicators
