3 Getting here Some come by bus or daycare van Some come by car Some walk

4 What to Do Students wait in the cafeteria until 7:40 a.m. Some eat breakfast Some wait in lines A teacher will walk them to class

5 Taking care of business They put away their backpacks They begin their day –Class begins @ 7:50 am

6 Let the Learning Begin Calendar Activities Whole group lessons

7 Reading wRiting and aRithmetic Children learn in so many ways. Teachers use a variety of styles to teach your child. –Whole group –Small group –One on One –Independent work

8 Literacy Centers –Children use a variety of tasks to develop literacy Reading and writing activities

9 Guided Reading Reading and listening are important tools Learning is fun when I am in school

10 Reading and Reading The more we read The more we learn

11 Recess We like to work and love to play. Kindergarten is fun all day.

12 Lunch Students may buy or bring their lunch Students choose what to munch Put money on your child’s account.

13 Math Numbers, numbers everywhere Count and add them here or there Learn our shapes – Circles and Squares

18 Going Home Teachers will guide children to their proper transportation spot We are very careful about rides Make sure to give your teacher the correct information

21 Preparing Your Child For Kindergarten Making the Transition Easier

22 Parents are your first and most important teachers!

23 Come by… Meet your teacher. See your classroom. Drop off your supplies.

24 Make the Big Day a Happy One! Focus on the positive! Discuss your child’s concerns. –RR –Lunch –How to find you after school Start going to bed earlier! –12 hours of sleep!

25 On the first day… Make plans for after school.

26 Registration Requirements Child’s birth certificate Child's current shot record Proof of Residence –Lease –Closing Statement –Utility bill We cannot accept partial information. Please have all four of the following documents so that we may enroll your child.

27 What’s next? Student Council 5 th graders will be giving tours of the building. PTA will help you with school supplies, spirit wear, and PTA membership. We will make copies of your documents for you. When you turn in your forms, the nurse will check your immunizations to be sure that your children have everything they need to be ready for school in August.
