HERE ARE SOME GRADE SPECIFIC CONCEPTS FOR YOUR CHILD TO FOCUS ON Kindergarten-Practice counting to 20, add and subtract to 5 with pictures or counters. Practice all letter names and sounds by the time they return in January and begin practicing sounding out CVC words. 1 st Grade-Adding and subtracting to 10 fluently & reading all sight words 2 nd Grade-Read daily, Adding and Subtracting with regrouping 3 rd Grade- Learn Multiplication Facts Fluently 4 th Grade – Counting Coins, Multiplying 2 digit and 3 digit numbers 5 th Grade -identifying the edges, vertices, and faces. They also need to recognize and name each three dimensional figure

PLACES TO GO Take a Walk Go to the park Visit a Museum or the Zoo Visit the Library Go for a Hike Go Fishing Tour a City Visit a Flea Market or a Farmer’s Market Go to the Beach

HOLIDAY PACKETS AND ASSIGNMENTS Don’t leave it to the last minute Plan on doing a little bit each day Set aside 20 or 30 minutes to read daily Visit Recommended Websites Use Flashcards for Concepts Limit the amount of television watched daily Take a break between sections Review and revisit the concepts your child does not understand.

INDOOR ACTIVITIES Make smoothies, cupcakes or cookies Have a scavenger hunt Play board games Design a family website Arrange photo albums or scrapbooks Decorate Thank you cards or placemats Play Charades Do jigsaw puzzles Be Creative
