2. 1 HAZUS Phase II Tier 1, Cont. ▸ Reduce breaks due to ESRI ArcGIS releases Solution includes a number of steps to revise and reconfigure HAZUS code to make revisions to ArcGIS less costly to FEMA and less of a hassle for the user. ▸ Update outdated VB6 code in Shell and EQ model The VB6 code was replaced in the rest of HAZUS in Phase I. This finishes the job, replacing VB6 with C#/.net and replacing ArcObjects calls with stored procedures using SQL Server Spatial SQL While the EQ model is being updated, it makes sense to incorporate a recommended update of better integration with the EQ hazard provided by the USGS Shakemap. This will provide a more “Hurrevac” like experience for the EQ module.

3. 2 HAZUS Phase II Tier 1, Cont. ▸ Jet Engine Migration Move away from 32 bit Microsoft Jet engine and implement the 32/63 bit Microsoft Access database Engine (ACE) ▸ Migrate from Registry settings to use of a Configuration file. This make installs easier, (i.e. no admin privileges needed) Store the application information in Configuration file instead of machine’s Windows Registry ▸ Training Nine courses need to be updated.

4. 3 HAZUS Phase II Tier 2 ▸ HAZUS online – Iterative approach It could be more supportive of a response environment due to faster speeds and easier use ▸ User Designed Facilities improvements Modify the Hazus Flood AAL GUI from command to a submenu that now includes GBS and UDF commands Adapt the Hazus Flood GBS AAL analysis to work with UDF point data Modify the Hazus Flood Result GUI menu to include UDF AAL results command Modify the Hazus Flood Results / Report dialog to include UDF AAL report

5. 4 HAZUS Phase II Tier 2, Cont. ▸ Better HAZUS reporting/dashboard Use open source PDF C# libraries to create templates for PDFs to replace 100+ reports currently in Crystal Reports Use combination of ESRI code, SQL stored procedures, and open source PDF templates to incorporate map graphics and tabular, similar to parcel PDFs ▸ SQL Server update ▸ Web based inventory management system (CDMS)

6. 5 Tier 3, HAZUS Phase II ▸ Tsunami Model ▸ “What-if?” scenarios Develop capability for What if scenario. Start with Freeboard and Sea Level rise (using authoritative partner data). Look to hurricane model Improve ease of import/use of external depth grids.
