In Pursuit of the Extreme…
2
Extreme sports Also called action sports, aggro sports, and adventure sports, is a popular term for certain activities perceived as having a high level of inherent danger. These activities often involve speed, height, a high level of physical exertion, highly specialized gear, and extensive costs to the taxpayer if injured.
3
Extreme sport is often a considerable undertaking for those who participate. As we pursue this mini-unit, your job will be to research, collect, collaborate, and present a multi-media presentation. It will be delivered to the class, on the sport of choice. The evaluation process will include class members and Ms. Millett. Participation and attendance are vitally important! Each group will be expected to incorporate the following in their presentation:

Criteria: Include a definition of the extreme sport. History of the sport and how it came about. Be sure to include any pioneers, funding, science, technology, etc. Community – does the sport host large groups? Physical/psychological – What do participants need to do to prepare? Gear/Cost – specialized, hard to create, find, cost, crafting. Destination - where practiced? Price – what does it cost to be a participant – think 360 degrees. Spotlight someone in the sport? Reporting, stories, media. Politics – Have there been any attempts to regulate the sport? Endorsements – Has the sport risen to the endorsement level? One – three video sources 7 – 10 digital sources

Sit in an area that you are close together. Decide early which parts of the project that you will be responsible for. Check-in with each other “regularly” to see what you have completed and/or are collaborating on. Share great information if found between responsibilities/sections
