2 6 But godliness with contentment is a great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. 1 Timothy 6:6-8

3 9 But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge people into ruin and destruction. 1 Timothy 6:9

4 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains. 1 Timothy 6:10

6 The symptom is gambling Gambling creates no new wealth. Gambling depresses legitimate business. Gambling increases welfare costs. Gambling increases crime.

7 The symptom is gambling Gambling victimizes the poor. Gambling produces the wrong attitudes toward work. Gambling contradicts social responsibilities Gambling revenues violate sound theories of taxation

8 The problem is greed!

9 where is your treasure? (v. 6) For the Christian contentment derives from God. True godliness produces contentment and spiritual riches. Love of money and contentment are mutually exclusive.

10 Temporal treasure causes us to lose focus. (v. 7) Jesus had much to say about chasing temporal riches. To be so focused on temporal possessions as to miss the eternal riches is the height of folly.

11 Seeking temporal treasure complicates life. (v. 8) The more money and possessions one has, the more complex life becomes. Material things demand time and energy that could be better spent on eternal realities.

12 Seeking temporal treasure complicates life. (v. 8) The supreme goal of a believer's life must be to love and glorify God, not to amass material possessions

13 Results of seeking temporal treasure. (v. 9) it is easy to become trapped. it can lead to destruction it can lead to eternal judgment.

14 Loving money leads us astray. (v. 10) The love of money becomes the root all sorts of evil. as a result of this love Some have wandered away from the faith. Believers must pursue God, not money.
