Hyperion Enterprise Reporting includes a few useful improvements.

13. 9/10/201513 Administrator Features Application Backup & Restore Utility –Performs backups while users are in the system. –Can perform tasks during routine (Consolidation, data load, etc) –Can be executed manually or programmed. Backup profiles can be set to back up a single application or multiple applications. Profiles can be set to execute daily, weekly, monthly, etc. –Can restore a previously backed up copy of the application. Message Server –Can broadcast messages to users who are logged onto Hyperion Enterprise before and during the application backup process. –Messages can be tailored to those logged onto the application and to those attempting to log into the application during a backup. –All users can receive messages regardless of the rights assigned to them.

Server Administration –Manage all of your Hyperion Enterprise servers from a common utility. –View server status and database settings of all servers. –Start, Stop, and Restart server services. –View / Modify database path, server file locations, settings, etc. Enhanced Logging –Error messages pertaining to the Data Entry, Database, Consolidation and Journal modules now displays user ID, category and entity information. This common interface allows Hyperion data to be pulled into Microsoft Office products such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. Same interface for retrieving Oracle Hyperion data: –Hyperion Enterprise –Hyperion Planning –Hyperion Financial Management –Hyperion Essbase Smart view allows for retrieving data via Formulas (similar to Hyperion Retrieve) and through Ad-Hoc drill (similar to Hyperion Analyst). A conversion utility exists to convert Retrieve spreadsheets to Smart View sheets.

SQL and Oracle drivers are no longer supported. Lotus 123 and Sites are no longer supported. All components can be Removed, Added or Repaired after install. Localized languages.

Hyperion Smart View for Hyperion Enterprise allows users to perform ad-hoc analysis, formula retrieval and integration with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. The Backup and Restore utility provides a much more reliable backup process (while users can be in the system). Server Administration simplifies maintaining multiple servers. Support for Vista and Excel 2007. Upgrades are always a good chance to clean up an application and remove any accounts / entities / categories that are no longer used. Cleaning up an application can save time, improve performance and allow the app to expand to new reporting requirements.
