Welcome to a world of hard drives and video cards. I am going to teach you how to buy the right parts to make your dream computer.

CPU’s The CPU or central processing unit is essentially the brain of your computer. It is responsible for all the calculations of the computer. It is what retrieves the information from the memory and executes the instructions. I would make sure to get a good processor with at least a speed of 2.00 GHz. Celeron, Pentium and AMD Athlon are great processor companies. Processor is #3

Motherboards The motherboard of your computer is a circuit board. includes core logic (chipset), interface sockets and/or slots, and input/output (I/O) ports. A motherboard includes AGP and/or PCI slots. AGP is advanced graphics slot, which is for your video card. Not all motherboards have a AGP slot so you will have to buy a video card that will go into a PCI slot. You MUST get a motherboard that works with your processor. Or in other words your processor must fit in your motherboard. So you need to check the processor socket on the board. Motherboard is #6

Memory Memory is where your computer holds current programs and data that are in use. Memory is very important to the processor chip(CPU) because the memory holds all the instructions that the processor needs to execute the task. Memory controls the rate at which your processor will run, therefore is you have insufficient memory then your computer will run slower. There are many different kinds of memory so you must be sure to get the right kind. If you are running Windows XP I recommend 512 Mb or higher. Memory is #7

Hard Drives A hard drive is what stores all your files and programs. It is basically a file cabinet. There are fast hard drives and ones that aren't so fast, to check you just look at the rpm's of the drive. If you are a gamer I suggest 200Gb. If you are not then 80Gb should be fine. 7200 rpm is fine. #4 holds the hard drive.

Video Cards Your Video card is what is responsible for all the rendering of objects and your graphics. Many times people will get high end video cards so they can play all the newer games. Make sure you get the right type of video card for your motherboard because not all cards will go into your motherboard. If you are gaming I suggest 128mb to 256mb or higher. If you are not gaming then you don't need an expensive video card, possibly you won't even need one. Video Card is #11

Computer Case Your computer case is what holds all your precious computer components together. Your computer case will protect your parts from outside damage. Some computer cases will come with fans that will keep your computer cool which is good, it will make your computer run faster. If your are going to upgrade your computer or you are building a gaming computer I suggest a big case so you have room for any extras you want. The case is the whole thing

Thanks for listening! So any time you want to go out and buy a computer think twice, computer companies like to rip you off. So why not build one!
