Quality and Efficiency Support Team QuEST supports NHS Boards to deliver improvements in quality and efficiency through a number of national programmes. Working in partnership with NHS Boards, QuEST tests and spreads emerging innovations and best practice across NHSScotland to enable delivery of key NHS priorities.

Spread of Knowledge Lots of activity over many years and some good success – however….! Case studies – now have over 150 on QI Hub website Knowledge into Action – preoccupied by spread- from ‘improvement islands’ or ‘pockets of excellence’ to scale What spread strategies are required for the idea to be adopted easily locally What levers of organisational change do we have or can we influence both nationally and locally? How do we exploit networks effectively ?

Sustainability Challenge ‘ The challenge is not starting but continuing after the initial enthusiasm has gone’. Ovretveit 2003 Focus on quality improvement infrastructure and system conditions Identify and map system and focus on high impact changes Implementation science – do we know enough? Do we really understand and acknowledge challenges at the front line ?
