5. Course Objectives The primary objective of this course is to learn to design database applications for business enterprises and to learn how to use a relational database. Topics include user requirement analysis, logical database design, database administration, database systems architecture, entity-relationship model, SQL, normalization, and database security.

12. Course Requirements 1. Required readings –Relevant chapters of the text book. –Additional Readings handed out in class. 2. Assignments –There will be 6 assignments in this course. Assignments include one case, programming, design, and individual writings. Students are expected to use the Oracle DBMS and Microsoft Access for the SQL programming. 3. Deliverables –All materials submitted for this course should look professional. Pages should be typed, not handwritten. – Late penalty: 20% per day.
