Geography of Japan Japan is an island nation in Asia. Comprising a large archipelago extending along the Pacific coast of Asia. The main island is referred to as the "Home Island“ There are also about 3,000 smaller islands, including Okinawa Japan's total area is about the size of the original 13 colonies.
