4 Singular Possessive Noun
a noun that shows ONE person, place, or thing owning something …a noun that shows ONE person, place, or thing owning something? For example, the word brother’s in * my brother’s friend or the word river’s in * the river’s banks or the word bus’s in * the bus’s windows…* Yesterday, we learned a rule for how to write singular possessive nouns correctly. my brother’s friend the river’s banks the bus’s windows 4

a noun that shows MORE THAN ONE person, place, or thing owning something Can you find the possessive noun in this first sentence? * How about this second sentence? * What about the last sentence? * Each one of these nouns is a * plural possessive noun. You know what a plural noun is, and you know what a possessive noun is. What do you think a plural possessive noun is? Can someone read us the official *definition of a plural possessive noun? Plural possessive nouns are trickier to write than singular possessive nouns. Let’s see if we can figure out some rules for how to write them correctly. The four puppies’ tails were wagging. The two cars’ tires were flat. All the children’s faces were red. 7

8 Write the plural noun. If it ends in s, just add an ’.
