Biology is a dynamic 21st century subject which tackles the scientific challenges of the next generation. This degree is a variety of fascinating courses covering a range of topics, such as biological diversity, cell and molecular principles, modern human evolution or solving disorders of the nervous system. Biology equips you with the capability of contributing to solve the world's most demanding and pressing problems. “ “

Science Related Subjects: ◦ A strong base in biology is essential for a Biology degree. This is so that you are familiar with the fundamental terminology and concepts that are used in the subject right from the outset. ◦ Depending on the university you apply to they may also require a background in Chemistry.
4
GCSE: ◦ N/A ◦ Usually at least a Grade B at GCSE Maths and English A-Level: ◦ ABB- BBC ◦ Usually the highest grade requirement is in Biology ◦ However, the grade requirements are highly dependent on the institute you apply to

BSC: 3years This will depend on your university. But here’s a flavour of what to expect In your first year you take on fundamental courses to enrich your base of advanced biology: Animal Behaviour, Molecular and Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Diversity of Life and Evolution. Your second year builds up on many of the concepts introduced to you in the first year with a broad range of subjects including animal diversity, biodiversity and conservation, cell regulation and cancer, developmental biology and other options you are able to choose from. Usually this year also includes filed trips that may count towards your degree. You have a wide range of choices including courses in biology, ecology, environmental science, genetics, neuroscience and psychology. Among the biology and environmental science options, there are courses in Animal-Plant Interactions, Genes and Development, Intelligence in Animals and Machines, Modern Human Evolution, Neuronal Plasticity and Gene Regulation, Neuronal Transduction and Transmission, Social Insects. The final year also includes a research project, in which you work under the supervision of an expert research scientist
7
There are usually a lot of conservation volunteering programmes which you can take up. These help a lot in learning the practical approach to habit conservation, evolutionary concepts. Read the scientific journals that are always very informative. Join the Life Sciences or Natural Sciences Society and attend university arranged lectures that introduce the students to a wide range of modern technology and research in the field of biology.

Teaching is a profound career where you can enable others to learn the knowledge you own - whether Biology or other subjects. Consider Journalism approach (e.g. writing for Jamaat magazines)

The discipline of Biological Sciences is an immensely rapidly expanding subject area that includes a wide range of interests. The developments will have considerable impact on areas such as medicine, our environment and society: 'a biologist with an interest in tropical plants may well use many of the tools and techniques that are indispensable to a molecular geneticist.' As with all the degree programmes it is very useful to go to open days, participate in Taster Sessions over the summer.

http://www.societyofbiology. org/ Society of Biology. A website provides publications such as the Biologists and will give you a taste of the different areas of the discipline of Biology. It contains a useful section of the latest news in biology (royal society). http://www.e-journals.org Read around the different aspects of biological sciences and how these are on a constant change with numerous advances in every field. Reading around helps immensely especially if you want to get to know the degree which in future will be a part of the modern day development.
