8. This conversation classes for the teachers will be focused mainly on conversation although we will look at new vocabulary and sentence structure. We will review a variety of literature including; English learning books, English folklore, interesting facts, quotations and other materials from the internet. 9. Content- fan death, seaweed soup, 100 day baby anniversary and dog meat. The aim of the lesson is to improve conversation skills. The topics I’ve chosen should arouse the interests of the teachers. Fan death is a which states that an, if left running overnight in a closed room, can cause the death of those inside (by,, or ). Fans manufactured and sold in Korea are equipped with a timer switch that turns them off after a set number of minutes, which users are frequently urged to set when going to sleep with a fan on. 10. MiYeok Guk is a popular Korean soup. Korean people eat this soup not only during normal days, but also for special days like birthdays, weaning days, etc. Seaweed has good nutrition in it. (”In Oriental medicine, seaweed has been used for blood purification, intestinal strength, skin, hair, reproductive organs and menstrual regularity” from Wikipedia). So, it is common practice that Korean moms eat seaweed soup for many days after they birth their babies because Koreans believe that this seaweed soup gives nutrition to both mom and baby (the baby gets milk from mom). Maybe, that’s part of the reason why Korean people eat seaweed soup on their birthday, but then again, maybe not. There is a funny superstition that some people consider seriously about seaweed soup: The fresh or soaked seaweed has a slippery surface.
