The connections between regional issues and European struggles for global power in the mid-eighteenth century are that the British dominated the Indian Ocean basin, North America, and the Caribbean. Little was gained or lost in Europe.

Doc 1 – Since the document is a report to the company, Clive wants to report what the victory costs Doc 2 – Since the Council is convened by the French, Kisensik wants to convey to the audience their common cause to defeat the British. Doc 3 – Since Theresa is writing to a female of similar status and class, she wants to convey a very honest message, despite the bad news. Doc 4 – The letter from Frederick sounds panicked. Frederick is realizing that he might lose all of his power.

Doc 5 – The French colonists seem to want to make sure they can still earn a living, and maintain some religious rights. Since they are in the Caribbean they don’t seem to be very loyal to the French King. Doc 6 – Since Choiseul is writing to the ambassador in London he is trying to get some extra help to achieve his goals in the negotiations. Doc 7 – Pontiac’s tone sounds desperate since their allies, the French, have just suffered a major defeat. Pontiac is trying to unite everyone together in his speech.

Doc 8 – Since the document is a secret report, the employee is trying to convey a topic of the utmost importance. Doc 9 – Since the document is written in 1764 the war has been going on for a long time and Symmer has come up with an idea to make the government more money to pay for the war.
