Definitions and Jargon Advancement -> Strategy Advancing the strategic priorities of the Faculty Development - > Process A process which engages and involves supporters in our dreams, activities and service. Fundraising -> Action Deliberate and thoughtful community building actions and activities which allow people to invest in what they value.

REASON FOR GIVING Compassion for those in need Wanting to help a cause in which they believe Contributing to the community Direct link to the cause (personally afflicted by or know someone who is affected, business interest)

Reasons WHY people DON’T give Did not like HOW they were asked Do not believe the donation would be used efficiently They were NOT asked !!!!

Is there a special breed of people who like to ask for money? NO

Do I like to ask for money? Getting the RIGHT people together with common focus interested in solutions to common issues POINTING out the role money plays - > the common goal … HELPING people, foundations, corporations see that there is a role for them to play YES, I DO like to ask for support, and it doesn’t feels like asking for money!

INDIVIDUALS with whom we have a relationship – believe in us, believe in what we are doing; CORPORATIONS and FOUNDATIONS with whom we have a relationship – shared interest and focus, to be good corporate citizens.

OUR UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY Faculty of Health’s focus is on people’s well-being (lifespan, healthy, diseased, in the norm, outside the norm, physical health and mental health, human rights, …..) All have an interest in Health – everybody is affected – everybody has a story – everybody is looking for solutions. The “So what factor” is very meaningful
