Comprehensive Review Assess Student Within Context Educational environment Available resources and opportunities Most campuses have more qualified applicants than they have room to accommodate, so they apply standards that are more demanding than the minimum requirements UC faculty has developed factors to guide campuses in their comprehensive review The review process and specific weight given (if any) to each factor can differ from campus to campus and from year to year

Freshman Statement Prompt One Describe the world you come from-for example, your family, community school or school-and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations. Prompt Two Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishments makes you proud, and how does it relate to the person you are?

Personal Statements- Final Thoughts Start early, get feedback, and revise Be clear on your motivations, choose a topic that your are passionate about Avoid common mistakes Stretching the truth/exaggerating Failing to fully address the prompt (describing the “world you come from”, but not explaining how “your world” has shaped you) Vague statements Using acronyms or abbreviations that not well-know
