3. History Tech Smith, who makes Camtasia, was founded in 1987. SnagIt was its first success in 1999 even though it was ahead of its time. SnagIt’s screen capture ability was the basis for Camtasia being created in 2002. Camstasia is evolving and is now on version 6.
