Carrying on the Traditions Hawaiian cultural practices were carried out by a new generation.

Bringing It Home Lessons learned from Kaho`olawe-- connecting to the land, to the culture, and to the gods--were brought home to other islands.

Restoring Renewed interest in cultural practices led to restoration of heiau, loko i`a (fishponds) and lo`i kalo (taro) on other islands.

Rebirth in Voyaging During the time of protest landings on Kaho`olawe, the voyage of Hōk ū le`a to Tahiti awakened cultural pride in the remarkable achievements of Hawaiian navigators.

Keeping the Language Alive The Renaissance led to Hawaiian language immersion programs to keep the language and culture alive.
