11 Alcohol Wine – Is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting (converts sugar to alcohol) grapes or other fruit. Alcopop – (wine cooler) Is an alcoholic beverage made from wine and fruit juice or other flavorings have been added, high in calories. Beer – Is an alcoholic beverage that is made by fermenting barely, corn, hops or rye. Hard liquor – Is an alcoholic beverage made by distillation ( purifying a liquid by evaporation) fruits, rice and/or vegetables.

12 Alcohol terms Intoxication – refers to the negative effects alcohol has on a drinker’s body and behavior. Blackouts – periods of time that a drinker cannot recall. Driving while Intoxicated(DWI) or Driving under the influence (DUI) – is the physical and mental impairment resulting of consuming too much alcohol. This is ILLEGAL!! Hangover – the physical symptoms, such a nausea, and headache that are the after effects of drinking. Moderation – consume alcohol as a social drinking ( 1 or 2 drinks) Tolerance – when your body gets use to a substance and you need more to get the same effect.
