DE LA SALLE PHILIPPINES Communion in Mission, Mission as Communion
2
The Mission “To give a human and Christian education to the young, especially in schools, with the service of the poor as a priority, in order to evangelize and catechize, to promote peace and justice, accomplished together as a shared mission.” from the 42nd General Chapter of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Rome 2000
3
Vision 2011 In relation to our present educational apostolates, we commit ourselves to establish a unified District Educational System led by committed, competent and creative individuals, and characterized by synergy, interdependence and unity of vision.
4
Guiding Principles of the Philippine Lasallian Family The Lasallian Family is called to communion in mission, characterized by solidarity and collaboration that comes from sharing in one vision, one spirit, and one mission.
5
Basic Premises 1 The Lasallian Educational Mission is primarily expressed in the schools.
6
Basic Premises 2 There are other expressions of this educational mission outside the schools.
7
Basic Premises 3 The Brother Visitor is the unifying element of the Lasallian Mission.
8
Basic Premises 4 The Brothers work and collaborate very closely with the Lasallian Partners.
9
Basic Premises 5 The main task of the District and Partners Councils is to ensure that the Lasallian Mission, as primarily expressed in the schools, is faithfully realized.
10
Basic Premises 6 The Boards of Trustees play a vital role in implementing the Lasallian Educational Mission in their respective educational institutions.
11
Basic Premises 7 Beyond the Federation of Lasallian Institutions (and the structure of the former DLSU System), there is a need to rationalize the governance of all schools.
12
Basic Premises 8 These governance structures shall respect both canon and civil laws, autonomies proper to each institution, ownership of assets and liabilities; as well as take cognizance of each institution’s unique character and particular employment realities.
13
Basic Premises 9 These governance structures shall also respect the distinct charism and role of the Brothers as expressed in the Rule while encouraging fuller participation of Lasallian Partners.
