Distance Learning Survey Fall 20072 Significant Trends The Distance Learning Survey was emailed to Distance Learning students on November 16, 2007. The survey was sent to 2,325 students, 255 of which responded (11%). 72% (183 of 255) of the respondents were female, compared to 61% of distance learning students and 51% of De Anza’s total population. Full-time students made up 45% (115 of 255) of the respondents; compared to 37% of De Anza’s total population. 77% (195 of 254) of the respondents indicated that they were only taking one distance learning course.

Distance Learning Survey Fall 20073 Significant Trends 47 % (120 of 255) of the respondents are between the age of 15 and 25; compared to 64.3% of De Anza’s total population. 50.5% (139 of 255) of the respondents were over the age of 25; compared to only 36% of De Anza’s total population. The top educational goal for the of the respondents was to Transfer to a 4-year university with or without obtaining an AA/AS degree (58%, 148 of 255), this compares with 52% for distance learning students and 51% for De Anza’s total population. 46% (118 of 255) of the respondents live 10-50 miles away from De Anza College. 40% (98 of 247) of the respondents would be interested in obtaining their degree fully online. The most popular degrees the surveyed students would seek online are general Business degrees and Business Administration.
