2 What is an e-Portfolio It is not –A scrapbook –A personal home page –A course management system –An archive It is –A group of purposeful collections –A network application –Controlled by the student –An iterative, changing expanding tool

3 Purpose of e-Portfolio To improve student learning –Involves reflection –Is developmental –Is integrative –Is self-directed –Is lifelong

4 ACPE Standard 15.1 Demonstrate and document in student portfolios that graduates have attained the desired competencies, when measured in a variety of health care settings

5 ACPE Standard 15.4 Student portfolios should be employed to document students’ progressive achievement of the competencies throughout the curriculum and the practice experiences The portfolios should be standardized and include student self-assessment, as well as faculty and preceptor assessments of the educational outcomes

6 Educational Outcome 1 Provide pharmaceutical care in cooperation with patients, prescribers, and other members of an inter-professional health care team based upon sound therapeutic principles and evidence-based data, taking into account relevant legal, ethical, social, economic, and professional issues, emerging technologies, and evolving biomedical, sociobehavioral, and clinical sciences that may impact therapeutic outcomes

7 Required Artifacts for P1 Year Upload at least one presentation or case/discussion from Clinical Applications I (spring semester), including comments from instructor(s) Upload log/feedback from blood pressure OSLE in Intro. to Community Pharmacy Lab I (spring semester)

8 Required Artifacts for P1 Year Upload feedback from end of semester OSCE in Intro. to Community Pharmacy Lab I (spring semester) Post-rotation reflection from community IPPE (summer – automatic upload via E-Value)

9 Optional Artifacts Upload care plan from ASHP clinical skills competition Upload video from APhA patient counseling competition Upload abstract and/or poster from Research Project

10 Educational Outcome 2 Manage and use resources of the health care system, in cooperation with patients, prescribers, other health care providers, and administrative and supportive personnel, to promote health; to provide, assess, and coordinate safe, accurate, and time-sensitive medication distribution; and to improve therapeutic outcomes of medication use

11 Required Artifacts for P1 Year Upload final project from Transforming Health Care (spring semester) Upload calculations in community pharmacy worksheet from Intro. to Community Pharmacy Lab I (spring semester) Post-rotation reflection from community IPPE (summer – automatic upload via E-Value)

12 Optional Artifacts Upload presentation from Clarion competition

13 Educational Outcome 3 Promote health improvement, self-care (including but not limited to nonprescription, complementary and alternative medicines), wellness, and disease prevention in cooperation with patients, communities, at-risk populations, and other members of an inter- professional team of health care providers

14 Required Artifacts for P1 Year Reflection paper from Generation Rx Service Learning Project (fall semester – automatic upload via E-Value)

15 Optional Artifacts Upload evidence of participation in health and wellness events Upload presentation and/or plan from Business Plan Competition

16 Annual Curricular Reflection Compose an annual curricular reflection paper & upload into E-Value portfolio –Comment on the P1 curriculum in general and whether or not you feel like you have progressed in meeting the three curricular competencies during the P1 year –Comment on specific artifacts you uploaded (including optional artifacts) and how those artifacts demonstrate your progression in meeting the curricular competencies –No required length –Due Date: April 2015

17 Annual e-Portfolio Review Will be assigned a reviewer –Faculty –Preceptor –Alumnus Required to “meet” with reviewer in April
