Vernon Presbyterian Church PSK’s Disaster Response Team requested your help and due to the generous response, $8,430 was donated which means 312 PDA Clean-up Buckets will be assembled by Ferncliff volunteers. In addition, 30 more buckets were assembled by some churches and delivered to the PSK Office for further travel to Ferncliff. Thank you PSK for your assistance in helping the flood victims in Colorado! Ernie Hull, Moderator, PSK Disaster Response Team Your 2014 Bible Plan What will you do with the Bible, in 2014? I've heard lots of people say that they wish they knew the Bible better than they do. Why not make some progress on that, in this coming year? Next December, instead of saying, “I wish I knew the Bible better,” you could be glad of the progress you've made. You could read through the whole Bible, over the course of the year. That's the Bible reading plan used at Bethel Presbyterian Church. If that sounds interesting, you can follow the schedule on Facebook: www.facebook.com/BethelPresbyterianWichita. Every day Bethel puts up a post with the chapters for that date, along with a brief commentary and a prayer. Check it out. www.facebook.com/BethelPresbyterianWichita If that seems a little too ambitious, you could choose one book of the Bible and focus in on it. You might pick one of the gospels, for example. Or one of the letters of Paul: Romans could be fun, or Philippians. One of my friends picked Proverbs one time, and read through it over and over again, all year long. You could decide to specialize on that one book of the Bible, and by the end of December, you'd be pretty excited about what you had learned over the course of the year. Or a Bible character. We usually hear just these little bits, even about major players in the Bible: we hear a familiar name in a brief Bible excerpt, but within just one sermon we never get to hear the big sweeping saga, from one end to the other, about any of these people. What if you decided you really wanted to know the whole story, about the Apostle Paul? Or Moses, or Deborah, or Isaiah? You'd have to get some books out of the library and do some homework: but imagine how good it would feel, twelve months from now, if you had become something of an expert on that one particular character. It's a whole new year, stretching out in front of you. It could be a year in which you beefed up your Bible knowledge. Make the most of it. Jay Ayers
